Continuation of AFP vs. Morel Case
The potential groundbreaking case of Agencee France Presse vs. Daniel Morel kicked off Friday with an appeal by afp for a case dismissal in their favor. The judge, William Pauley, dismissed afp’s request, electing to wait until the court reconvenes to issue a decison.
The lawsuit revolves around a 2009 contoversey that began when Morel, a freelance photojournalist, put his photos from the Haitian Earthquake on TwitPic and Twitter. aFP picked up the images from another twitter user, who took them from Morel and ran them without giving him credit.
The case will set an important precedent for copyright laws regarding photography and social media.
